The sun sinks in the sky like
a lover between sheets
I curl my feet into the sand
And remember dissolving
Under your touch

I remember
your hands on my hips
thumbtips and soft lips

I remember
how your eyes lit
the darkness like a flare

The riddle of us is frozen
in time. Unsolvable.
I remember
and as the ocean froths about my legs
I unravel just as I told you I would
